Damaged bags, leaking closures and residue around openings need attention before routine handling. Containers and transfer equipment must be compatible with the material. Solid stock and spent liquid should remain clearly distinguished where both are being removed.
Spent alkaline cleaning liquor
Used caustic solutions can contain oils, dissolved deposits and other cleaning chemicals. The waste should therefore be described from its current composition rather than the original caustic concentration alone. Associated packaging and spill residues may also need separate disposal.
